I found Nina via the AKC website. She was located in New Jersey while I was in Dallas, Texas, but she was incredible at making that distance seem like nothing. When I flew out there to pick up my sweet puppy Autumn, she was absolutely amazing at showing me the best ways to care for her, how she has been living, and even hand-made some special food for us! She really went the extra mile and packaged the food so that it was safe for plane travel. She is so kind, caring, and devoted to her lovely dogs - I cannot say enough good things. Autumn is also healthy, sweet, and has grown into a wonderful adult! I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a new four legged family member!

Working with Nina was a pleasure from the start. She is very conscientious about the entire breeding process, from limiting the number of litters her females have, to choosing the mate based on health and temperament. She updated all the waiting “parents” about the progress of the pregnancy on a regular basis, then sent daily pictures and videos of the litter and their adorable progress. Along the way she also provided invaluable information on nutrition, training, and general education on navigating the transition of the puppy becoming a member of my family. And she remains available by text/phone whenever needed. A wonderful experience all around!

We are forever grateful for Nina and the gift she gave to our family, our dog Storm. From the start, Nina was thoughtful, responsive, and caring (for our family as well as our future pup). She made sure that we knew what we were getting into (especially having 2 kids, 4 and 8 years old) and that we were prepared - this encouraged us to work with a trainer before Storm even came home. When we were able to bring Storm home, Nina helped us make the transition as smooth as possible - even providing homemade food! Nina at JBJ’s Portuguese Water Dog was great to work with. She was very communicative with everything relating to the breeding process, birth and their upbringing with her. It’s great to see how much care she puts into finding the perfect families for all of the puppies. What was best for us was having her temperament test the puppies to determine which families the puppies would go to. It ensured that we received the puppy that would match our families dynamic.

We brought home our 8 week old Portuguese Water dog in September 2021.  Our Molly is a joy. Nina sent us pictures and videos of our girl in the weeks leading up to her homecoming. Nina  made the whole process so easy.  She answered all our questions and was available for any follow up support. We absolutely loved our experience with Nina and JBJ’s. As first time dog owners, we were so comforted by the attention and adoration Nina gives to both the dogs and us as new dog parents. She made sure that the breed was the right fit for us as a family and paired dogs to families based on temperament tests. Nina sent frequent updates and photos throughout the first few weeks of our dog, Finn’s, life to keep us updated on how he’s doing and get us excited to bring him home. She prepped us for what to bring for the pick up and we had a great session meeting Finn and learning all about how to take care of a young puppy (including feeding, training, grooming, etc.) before we took him home. The love and care Nina shows for the pups and their well-being is immeasurable. Nina was also our life line the first few weeks when we had new dog-owner questions. Can’t recommend her and JBJ’s enough! Our dog is so smart, loving and such an excellent puppy - he excels in all the training classes we’ve done with him and is making first time dog ownership so easy! If we want another PWD in the future, we will be coming back to JBJ’s.

We are so lucky we found Nina! She is absolutely amazing! In our search for a family dog we narrowed it down to the Portuguese Water Dog breed.  For many reasons this breed's personality fit our family's needs including their coat's propensity to be hypoallergenic.  We came upon Nina's name on the AKC website as a reputable dog breeder.  We communicated back and forth, getting to know each other, and finally traveling down from Massachusetts to South Jersey to Nina's home.  Right away we knew this was going to be a fun experience.  All her porties came out to meet us with excitement.  She has a great big fenced yard for the dogs to play and frolic safely outside, they even have their own pool!  While this might seem trivial when buying a dog, we understood that the personalities of the puppy's parents and conditions of the puppy's home would affect our puppy and therefore our family.  It was amazing to see the dogs all come out to us, and almost in unison sit quietly next to us, with their backs to us waiting for our petting of them to begin! How sweet!  Assume the "pet me position".  Nina loves her dogs and each puppy that is born.  Nina went over diet options, grooming, and training with us, answering all our questions.  We met Finn's mommy who is gentle and very motherly to her puppies. A few weeks later we returned and Nina teared up as we drove away with our new little guy, named Finn.  Our puppy grew a lot in the last two years, and he is gentle, fun, and exceptionally smart.  We find him easy to train, gentle with the kids, and he definitely loves his walks.  We find that because of our dog we get more steps in every day! Recently we had a family trip abroad and left Finn with Nina and the pack. Well I think he might have had more fun at his stay with Nina than we did on our vacation! He went swimming with his friends, played in the sand, and went driving with the gang in Nina's ATV. I mean 5 star vacation for him at Aunt Nina's!  So all in all, we feel incredibly lucky to have found Nina and her porties and we love our good boy Finn.

Nina is not just a breeder, she is a forever friend.  Nina took the time to know our family so that we would be matched with the perfect puppy. If you meet her pack you will be hooked!  They are a testament to how amazing and knowledgeable Nina is. I have had many dogs but I have never felt so close to one like I do with Cody and I really think it's because Nina kept us included in the development of the puppies since before they were born. It is obvious that Nina loves these babies and she spent a lot of time training them so when they go home they have a great foundation. 9 months later and I still text her weekly updates because I know she truly loves these puppies.  The grooming tips have helped me continue to groom Cody.

If you are lucky enough to get a puppy from Nina LISTEN TO HER ADVICE!!!!  Everything she told me was going to happen, did.  I am lucky to be close to her so she can watch Cody and groom him, and Cody is lucky that he can continue to see his parents, aunt, grandma and big sister.  Can't wait until Cody is older so he can have a baby brother or sister.
